呂朗婷＋施偉忠工筆＋繪畫展覽

一個架著眼鏡的搖滾青年，和有著不同身體的連體嬰，各以人作為單位和載體，把故事說出來。繪畫者的意念化作可見的身體，每一個動作和眼神都成了表達的嘴巴。工筆畫線條細膩溫柔，描繪出異常人體的美麗和恬靜; 插畫化的線、面和立體，組織出打破沉默的黑白灰肖像。墨水筆與毛筆，都在畫紙和雲母紙上找到最單純的真摯。

呂朗婷，84年出生，06年畢業於香港中文大學藝術系，基督徒。曾以魚骨和貝殼創作雕塑，近年專注於工筆畫創作。
施偉忠，86年出生，基督徒。

Incarnation Joe Lui+See Wai Chung Gong-bi+Drawing Exhibition

A rock youth in glasses and some conjoined twins with different bodies, are the main characters to tell stories, for two artists Joe and Chung. In their Gong-bi paintings and drawings, body became a visible carrier or unit, to express ideas and emotions which are hard to tell in speech. Joe’s Gongbi gently delicate lines depicted the beauty and quiet of the abnormal body. Lines, plains and three-dimensional objects in Chung’s drawing, formed the dynamic bodies in black and white. Through Drawing and Painting, the artists found the simplest way to reveal their hearts sincerely.

Joe Lui Long Ting, was born in 1984, Christian, graduated from the Fine Arts Department of The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2006. She created sculptures with fish bones and shells before and focuses the Gong-bi paintings series in recent years.
See Wai Chung, was born in 1986, Christian.

Messy Dreams 混亂的夢

最後的一張,身體是黑白的,背景是系列中前所未有的鮮紅。
孩子作的夢不一定是可怕的,混亂的想像漸令身體失控地變形。眼睛若昏花，黑暗就彌漫全身，想像與現實總會找到連接的地方。

It is the last one of this series. The body is in black and white, and the background is the unprecedented red in colour.
The dreams they had perhaps are not nightmares. Messy imagination causes the deformation of their body and out of control. Darkness in the mind somehow turns to the reality.

參考自一些腦積水的孩子,他們有些也是瘦弱的,因此更顯得頭重身輕。我想這可能是一個想得太多、吃得太少的人,他偏偏又如氣球一樣飄了起來。

Referenced from the children of hydrocephalus, they had big heavy heads with skinny bodies. To me, they looked have deep thoughts too much, but eat too little. Contradictorily, they looked like a float up balloon.

"哭有時,笑有時"出自舊約聖經的傳道書。作者在書中感歎人生的虛空,萬物皆有定時,彷彿人的歡樂悲傷都有限額分配,按時賜予人去接受。
連體的孩子是真有其人的,一個能伸展正常的四肢,另一個就好像把肢體收起來了;前者是歡欣而手舞足蹈的,後者卻苦苦的皺起雙眉。我覺得她們的身體,好像示範著一個人的情緒和外在表現的關係。高興時,他能對未來充滿憧憬,對世界躍躍欲試。難過的時候,只想把身體屈縮,最好縮小得如黑洞一樣,把自我消亡掉了。
在您感到快樂或悲哀的時候,不仿想想躺在您身後的另外一位。要哭還是要笑,或者你是可作主的。

The title comes from Ecclesiastes of the Old Testament. The author lamented the emptiness of life. Be joyful or sorrow, seemed that people only accepted it and nothing could change.
Once they were existed. Their facial expressions were so different and inspired me to think of their body and emotion. One of her was happy and dancing, the other one was sad about she had no limbs. Perhaps normal people do and think like them as well. When we are positive about the future, we like to explore the world and try new stuffs. When we lose hope, our heart just decline and want to disappear.
Therefore, no matter what we feel right now; we should not forget the good or bad times we had. Being sad or happy, it is your decision.

面對面的連體嬰,部份常處於競爭當中,他們很想爬過對方,但身體卻連住了;若做起相同動作,只消磨了彼此的力量。

The face-to-face twins, some of them often live in competition. They want to climb over each other, but their body still in the same position. If they do the same action, only waste the energy of each other.

呂朗婷藝術作品介紹
1984生於香港，2006畢業於中文大學藝術系。
畢業後一直專注於混合媒介雕塑及工筆畫創作。出於對觀察生物的熱愛，雕塑作品的材料多以海洋生物的骨骼和甲殼為主。在首次個展和畢業展中，她始以魚骨作物料製作小型雕塑，探討生命和宗教議題。後來她以蜆殼及玩具士兵製作的<蜆兵>系列，在題材上偏向社會性，嘗試以藝術行為表達對城市發展的意願，部份作品毁於皇后碼頭的清拆前夕。
現時她專注於工筆畫的創作，藝術系的學習引起了她對傳統花鳥畫的興趣，及至現在創作工筆人物畫。首個系列繪畫題材是連體嬰和變異人體，以超現實的身體、隱喻表現生命中的種種情緒。第二個系列將取材自城市人的百態，以畫作記下被遺忘或已消失的人物和景象。

About Joe, Lui Long Ting
Joe, Lui Long Ting was born in Hong Kong in 1984. She received a bachelor degree in Art from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2006.
She focuses on creating mixed media sculptures and Chinese gong-bi paintings after graduation. As nature creatures fascinated her, fish bones and shells became the raw materials of her sculptures. In her first solo and graduation exhibitions, she started to make mini sculptures with fish bones to discuss about life and religion. After that, she used shells and plastic toy soldiers in her new trial-- “Clam Soldiers”, which takes her works to a more social direction. Joe used this work as a silent demonstration during the dismantling of the Queen’s Pier, tried to express her will of civil development with artwork and action.
Recently she works on Chinese gong bi painting. She was interested in the traditional flower and bird paintings when she studied in fine art department, and now turned to explore the possibility of surreal portrait paintings. The subjects of her first series were conjoined twins and deformed human bodies. The unusual creatures were tending to express various emotions of life. The coming series will refer to the old faces of Hong Kong which were hidden in her memory.

骨頭的形態最是難得，但可惜沒記起它是什麼魚。那帶點冷峻又不失細緻的身體，令我想像到它是一隻優雅的獵豹，俯身低頭探視四周，與牠的姿勢相反，牠身處的山崗傾斜向上。

Lily 蓮見

蓮見

以紅衫魚的肋骨組成，條條相叠漸成片狀花瓣，木紋如風吹散了水影，蓮花含苞待放，初現世間。
見，是蓮見人間，亦是人看見睡醒的蓮花。這個名字，其實是來自岩井俊二的電影＜青春電幻物語＞的男主角。

Vain Hope 空想

空想

作品以三文魚的肋骨組成，形態很隨意，大致是由木製的枕頭萌生出條條思緒，最後集結成一點，不著邊際的幻想終於誕生出一個實質的妄念。它多是在夜晚發生的，孤枕難眠的時候。
結構上的嘗試是先不作形態的設計，讓黏合的魚骨自由發展，最後只用一個聚合點拉起整件雕塑。

連體嬰系列中最殘酷的一張。
赤裸裸的,呈現著一個多討厭過去的女孩。灰姑娘努力改造自己,不要留下一點痕跡。白雪公主知道姊妹終要抹殺自己,掩飾內心情緒似的,問了一句不著邊際的話。灰姑娘當然以毫無意義的笑聲帶過。
作者是次最大的參與,是決定了她們的手長,灰姑娘最多只能塑造現在的自己,但斬不掉過去的自己。

It is the most brutal one in the conjoined twins’ series.
A girl who hated her past, that's what this painting tells. I imagined that they are Cinderella and Snow White. Twin sisters looked same at the first but Cinderella did lots of plastic works on her own half part.
What I did on the girl who denied herself, I determined the length of their hands. Cinderella can only shape herself, but she cannot change her sister.

Desire of Pulsation 脈動的欲望

我把手放在胸口上，感受著心臟一次又一次的跳動。若我不停止呼吸，心臟就會繼續跳，直至動不了的一天。在身體成形的一刻，早在意識出現之前，我的心臟已決意與我相依、共存。那一瞬間，我被自己的心臟感動了。
有沒有人會因著成全心臟跳動的欲望，而叫自己活下去？若心跳是放在眼前時刻可見的，我們會更在意活著的每一刻嗎？
草稿上，女人戴著白耳環，現在成了一個無味的３。初時想起白先勇的玉卿嫂，一個打扮入時但活得不容易的女人。堅強的女子現在已不稀有了，有３號也有５、６、７號。

I put my hand on the chest, to feel my heart beat. If I did not stop breathing, my heartbeat will continue until the day it cannot move. When my body was once formed, my heart decided to live with me. If the heart is just like a friend of mine, will I have more strength to live because I know the desire of my heart?
If we can see our beating heart, will we treasure every moment of our life?
In the draft of this painting, the woman was wearing a white earring. Now it became "3" with tasteless font. She made me think of a female character of Bai Xian Yong's novel, Madam Yu Ching (Jade Love), a beautiful woman who had tough life. However, tough woman is no longer rare. There are No.5, 6 or 7, anywhere.

The Love of Anglerfishes 鮟鱇之愛

略述鮟鱇魚的愛情
雌性比雄性大四十倍之多，在黑暗的深海中，遇上同類的機會非常之少。牠們想出的辦法是一旦相遇了，雄性會黏在雌性的身上，彼此的組織會融合起來。牠們會保持共生的狀態直到死亡，雌性能一直獲得精子來繁衍後代。雖然女孩長得很猙獰，但神為她準備的是一份至死不渝的愛情。這種肉體上的永不分離，我覺得亦是一種浪漫。

A short talk about the love of anglerfishes
The female fish is larger than the male by 40times. The chance of meeting each other is so rare in the deep with darkness. The only way they thought was once they met up, the male will attached to the female and their tissue will start to conjoin. They will maintain the situtation of sympothesis till they die, and the female may reproduce with the sperm from the male.
Even the girl has a horrible look, God gives her an unchanged love. I think their conjoining body is definitely a kind of romance.

形而上學之吻淡彩紙本

作品介紹：
創作啓發自本人的矯齒療程。因配帶矯齒器後，接吻會變成一件危險的事，最後思考到有關人存在的時間性問題。
１．牙齒是人體中能保存最久的器官，它的存在比人的生命（身體機能）要長得多。
２．若時間跳至人類滅亡後，能證明人類曾存在於地球的東西，其中一件是青銅器。
３．透過性行為和愛情，人類理論上可繁衍至永遠。
４．可是愛情的吸引和性的衝動，往往是瞬間發生然後消失於無形的。
這樣按照存在時間的長短，順序為：
金屬製品＞骨骼（牙齒）＞身體機能（肌肉）＞愛情／性
金屬飾品和矯齒雖是裝飾或改善外表的東西，但也許會在某程度上幫助到人類的繁殖。

The Kiss of Metaphysics

Description:
This work is inspired by my orthodontic treatment. I think about even a kiss may hurt the mouth terribly after someone wore the dental brace. Somehow it makes me measuring the existing time of mankind in various aspects.

1. Teeth are the organs that can be preserved for the longest time, they exist much longer then the life of a mankind.
2. After the mankind became extinct, bronze products are one of the things to prove their existence on earth.
3. Through the sexual intercourse and love, mankind can reproduce forever in theory.
4. However, both the passion of love and the compulsion of sex come so suddenly and disappear.

According to the length of time, the order is:
Bronze products> bones (teeth)> the function of body (muscles)> love/sex
Although the metal accessories and dental brace are the stuffs to decorate or improve ones’ look, somehow they may help the reproduction of mankind.

The Eyes Have Never Enough of Their Seeing 眼看、看不飽

此為連體嬰系列的一張作品，對連體嬰產生興趣是因為他們提供了生存的另一種方式。人作為一個生命體是獨立的，與他人的相處能選擇不同的距離，但連體的生命沒有這種選擇權。一生為人，就要學習和同伴合作生活，在身體和思想上作出調配。
頭部相連的連體嬰，可能畢生都要卧在床上。但我忽發奇想，若解決了地心吸力的問題，他們便能自由地行走。一立於天，一行於地；從不同的視點和角度觀看這個世界，而把所見之事記存於同一腦袋，其吸收的知識該是常人的兩倍。
作品名稱源於聖經的傳道書１章８節。這卷書本說人生的虛空，此經文道出世人無法盡覽世情。因為看之不盡，更希望有多一雙眼睛一同細看。

This work is one of the conjoined twins series. Their lives attract me as they suggest an alternative choice of existing. Mankind as an individual living organism can keep the distance between others. However, the conjoined lives do not have this choice. They must live with their brothers or sisters, and learn to adjust and cooperate with their partners physically and emotionally.
The children who are head-conjoined may lie on the bed in their whole lives. I imagine if the gravity is no more a problem to them, they may have the freedom to walk through the sky and step on the ground. They may observe the world with different perspectives and save the images in their only brain; perhaps they could absorb double knowledge comparatively.
The title is from 1:8 Ecclesiaates in the Bible, talking about the emptiness of life, people never see all the things in the world. It is so much to see, why not having one more pair of eyes and see together?

皇后碼頭被清拆的前夕，蜆兵揹負著自己的家﹣貝殼，在綠色牌坊下排成兩行陣線。他們是海貝的化身，生於斯、死於斯，在皇后最後的日子，要誓死捍衛海岸。小兵們隨著拆卸已灰飛煙滅，其獨立精神卻延續下來。
由本港新進藝術家呂朗婷創作的混合媒介雕塑蜆兵系列，探討個人對政制和社區發展的角色和重要性，及嘗試以藝術行為介入社會議題。
新作展翅計劃由六十多個獨一無二的士兵組成，軍服的迷彩圖案會根據貝殼的的花紋和顏色各有變化。目的是展現每個小蜆殼所披帶的獨特花紋，寓意為人物雖小，仍有其獨立的個人意願和發聲能力。
呂朗婷,1984生於香港,2006畢業於中文大學藝術系. 現職藝術行政及藝術家,專注於混合媒介雕塑及插畫創作，透過製作獨特的生物雕塑或繪畫怪異的人物造型，都表達了她對形態的獨特美學及人類生存狀態的關注。是次展覽將於六月下旬假Hulahoop Gallery的展出。

During the last days of the Queen’s Pier, two lines of clam soldiers brought with their shells and guarded under the green plaque. They were born from the sea, wanted to protect their homeland until they died. Although the Queen’s Pier exists no more, the individual fighting spirit should not be forgotten.
Created by the local young artist, Joe Lui, the series of mixed media sculpture named “Clam Soldiers” tried to join the discussion of social topic with art performance, also suggested the importance of individuals playing their role in civil and urban development.
Her new work, “Show Your Colour”, grouped more than 60 soldiers with special design of camouflage, which depend on the colour and pattern of his shell. The work aimed to show the uniqueness of every person, no matter how little or common their voices are, they still have the right to speak out their mind.
Joe, Lui Long Ting was born in Hong Kong in 1984. She received a bachelor degree in Art from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2006. Now, she is an art administrator and artist. She keeps on creating mixed media sculptures and illustration. Though creating special organic sculptures or drawing weirdo, she presents her unique aesthetics and sympathy to human living conditions. This exhibition will be held at Hulahoop Gallery in late June.

Strangers in the dark 暗巷中的陌生人

A dark lane, it is one of the typical urban scene in Hong Kong. When you walk thought it, you may find some strangers walk or swim besides you. They looked wired, with the bodies of half fish and half human, and in old fashion clothing. They are the Hong Kong people I memorize in twenty years before, now they are too strange to remember. The rapid urban development deleted our memory by destroying the dark, dirty and evil old district, including the lane like this. The old strange people in our memory, is as treasure as the creatures in the ocean.

游/走於陰暗小巷，半魚半人的生物，穿著陳年影像中的紅褲子與白布鞋。黑夜中的陌生客，是舊城中的原住民，當年的你與我。收集在腦海內的記憶漸生長出團團珊瑚，華美盛放。但秒速增值的都邑，再不能容忍身上那塊殘缺醜陋的縐縐死皮。

二十年前的人與事，現已太難留住，太難記取。讓這些在城市流浪的陌生記憶，如珍貴的海洋生命被未忘人拼命保留下來。

In the Europe trip, I made this video with the new friends from different countries.
Learning their language, I memorize every unique person I have met. Not just their nationality, also their face, voice and character.
在歐遊時,和來自不同國家的朋友一起做的作品,目的是透過學習他們的語言,記念旅途中遇過每個獨特的人。
除了他們出生的國家,還有他們的樣子、聲線和性情。

Clam Soldiers Series- Show Your Colour 蜆兵遊戲之展翅計劃

繼魚骨雕塑後,是次創作使用了貝殼和玩具,表達了對生物學的興趣以外,一次較玩味的嘗試。
蜆兵和螺兵在皇后碼頭與公眾初次見面,於綠色的牌坊下排成兩行防陣。士兵是海貝的化身，生於斯、死於斯，在碼頭最後的日子，要誓死捍衛皇后。而今次參與藝術家產品計劃，則著重與觀眾的互動關係(遊戲形式)觀眾向藝術家訂購士兵玩具，而他將得到一個獨一無二的士兵，軍服的顏色圖案會根據貝殼的的花紋和顏色各有變化。目的是展現每個小蜆殼所披帶的獨特花紋，寓意為人物雖小，仍有其獨特的個人性格。亦希望觀眾在皇后一役後，不要忘記個人參與社區發展的重要性。

After the series of fishbone sculptures, Joe used the shells and toy soldiers to make new works. To show her interest of biology, she tried to present her idea more playfully.
The clam and spiral shell soldiers were firstly set under the plaque of Queen’s Pier. Two lines of soldiers guarded the last days of the Queen; they are the spirit from the sea, wanted to protect their homeland until they die. The second phase of the soldiers series which will cooperate with Artiple, it is a interactive game invited buyers to work out, each soldier they reserved will have a special camouflage clothing which depend on the colour and pattern of his shell. The idea of this work is showing the unique character and attitude of the person, no matter how little or common are the clam and the toy soldier. The artist also hopes to remind the audiences the importance of every citizen to participate the social development although the Queen’s Pier is no more existing.

輪，置於天際，人經過它就能進入天國。它可是一個刑具，人必須經過當中的試煉方可通過。
酷刑名字是聖傑靈輪。在就讀基督教的中學時，我聽過這樣的一個典故，被封聖的女信徒名叫Catherine，殉道時，她被一個裝滿刀片的車輪輾裂身體而死。做這件作品時，我想起了這位聖人的痛。
此外，骨頭用上了紅衫魚的脊。

這名字原為今年初一次展覽的名稱,因為太喜歡的關係,一直使用在作品集的分類,現在更成為了網站的名字。
"生之形"大概總括了我的創作主旨,雕塑和圖像提供了生物形體和空間,長出了生命和有關的思索。同時,我作為一個人、一件存在物,究竟其存在的目的和意義是什麼,似是在創作的過程中,慢慢尋問,也會與觀者分享。
作品在陳述一些事情,我的存在也是一樣。

This is the name of the exhibition I presented in this year, as I love this name so much, it became one category in my art portfolio, and I name the blog with this name too.
"Living as a being",that is all I would like to tell through my works. Sculptures and images are the shells, life and thought are inside. At the same time, I am a human being, living thing in the world. I am looking for the purpose of existence when I create something new, sometimes I share what I found with audiences.
My works are telling something, also I am.
